CVE-2026-96874 is a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in the MediaWiki Cargo extension through version 3.9.4. Improper neutralization of input during web-page generation permits attacker-controlled script content to be stored and subsequently executed in the browsers of users viewing affected wiki pages.

1 valid exploit after Mallory filtered fakes, detection scripts, and README-only repos.
The repository contains a README and one Python proof-of-concept script, poc.py. The script accepts a Cargo table name and field name, constructs a #cargo_declare declaration whose _drilldownTabs value contains a hardcoded SVG onload XSS payload, and prints a target Special:Drilldown URL rather than issuing network requests itself. The exploit relies on an authorized template edit to persist attacker-controlled markup in Cargo metadata; viewing the corresponding Drilldown page causes the tab label to be rendered as raw HTML in vulnerable versions. The payload is intentionally non-destructive and only sets document.body.dataset.cargoTab to demonstrate script execution. README documentation describes affected versions, prerequisites, cleanup, and upstream references.
