CVE-2026-97161 is a critical path-traversal and unauthorized file-access vulnerability affecting the lomart.fr UP plugin extension for Joomla versions 5.0.0 through 5.2.0 and 6.0.0 through 6.0.29. Multiple input vectors permit traversal outside intended application paths and access to files not intended to be exposed.

This is a small standalone Python 3 repository centered on poc.py, a CVE-2026-97161 proof of concept for unauthenticated path traversal and arbitrary file read in Lomart's UP (Universal Plugin) Joomla extension. The script normalizes individual or list-supplied Joomla targets, creates requests sessions with TLS verification disabled, fingerprints UP via exposed XML manifests and page-content markers, parses discovered versions, and classifies versions against the stated vulnerable ranges. It can run concurrent check-only scans over a target list, or perform an active read probe/exploit attempt against Joomla's com_ajax/UP ajax-view-style handlers. The primary objective is retrieval of configuration.php; response content is assessed for JConfig, database-user/password/database, and secret-field markers. Operators can specify a custom traversal file or a previously captured full AJAX URL when generic request templates do not match a deployment. Supporting files are README.md usage and vulnerability notes, requirements.txt (requests and urllib3), targets.example.txt, .gitignore, and an MIT license. No command execution, shell payload, persistence, or file-write payload is present, although the README notes that the referenced vulnerability family reportedly also involved file creation.
