CryptoBot is a Go-based cryptocurrency-focused infostealer observed in a June 2025 macOS intrusion against a cryptocurrency foundation. Huntress linked the broader intrusion with high confidence to the North Korean threat group TA444 / BlueNoroff, also tracked as Sapphire Sleet, COPERNICIUM, STARDUST CHOLLIMA, and CageyChameleon. In that campaign, the victim was socially engineered via Telegram, a Calendly lure, and a fake Zoom meeting featuring deepfake participants into downloading a malicious AppleScript disguised as a Zoom extension, which led to deployment of multiple malware components including CryptoBot.
The CryptoBot binary was identified as "airmond" and described as a Go-based information stealer compiled by the user "chris." It stored files under /Library/AirPlay/ and shared configuration files under /Library/Google/Cache/ with the Root Troy V4 backdoor. Its local configuration was encrypted with AES-CFB using the static embedded key f6102a492570dee84bbc9ebd8bd7bfab4e442eae3b416b1a. CryptoBot searched browser extensions for cryptocurrency wallets and included extraction routines for wallets such as Binance, Bitget, Keplr, MetaMask, OKX, Phantom, Rabby, Rainbow, Ronin, SafePal, SubWallet, Sui, Ton, Tron, Trust, Unisat, and Xverse. It communicated with the C2 domain productnews[.]online over HTTP and supported encrypted or unencrypted requests.
High-confidence indicators directly associated with CryptoBot in the reporting include the binary name airmond, SHA256 ad21af758af28b7675c55e64bf5a9b3318f286e4963ff72470a311c2e18f42ff, storage path /Library/AirPlay/, shared config location /Library/Google/Cache/, and C2 domain productnews[.]online.
