IBM disclosed CVE-2026-14529, a critical server-side request forgery vulnerability in IBM WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Application Server Liberty that is remotely exploitable when the SIP container feature sipServlet-1.1 is enabled. The flaw affects WebSphere Application Server 8.5 and 9.0, along with Liberty versions 17.0.0.3 through 26.0.0.8, and carries a CVSS 3.1 score of 9.4. IBM mapped the issue to CWE-306 and said exposed deployments could be at significant risk if the SIP feature is active.
IBM said there are no workarounds for the issue and urged customers to apply interim fixes associated with APAR PH72053 or DT495928, or upgrade to fixed releases expected in 3Q2026. Additional mitigation guidance recommends disabling the SIP container where it is not required and applying the latest security patches to reduce exposure until permanent fixes are deployed.
