A remote access trojan called Borat has been advertised on darknet markets as a modular malware package that lets operators build customized payloads for multiple attack goals. Analysis by Cyble found the package includes a builder, malware modules, and a server certificate, enabling threat actors to tailor infections with capabilities such as remote desktop control, keylogging, webcam and microphone recording, reverse proxying, UAC bypass, and process hollowing.
Researchers said Borat also supports Chromium credential theft, Discord token theft, DDoS attacks, and ransomware deployment, making it a hybrid threat that combines RAT, spyware, and extortion functionality in one toolkit. Reporting also noted signs that the malware may be based on AsyncRAT, after its payload executable was identified as AsyncRAT, and warned that infections are likely to be spread through trojanized software and fake cracks downloaded from untrusted sources.
