Security researchers published detection content for the Metamorfo banking malware family, also known as Casbaneiro, including YARA rules aimed at identifying its Windows payloads and installer artifacts. One rule targets the malware’s initial MSI payloads using distinctive installer-related strings and triggers when any two indicators are present; the accompanying entry also lists file hashes, suspected delivery URLs, and external references to prior technical reporting.
A separate Malpedia entry added an autogenerated YARA signature for win.metamorfo, designed to detect files under roughly 20 MB by matching seven of ten byte-pattern strings. Together, the references provide defender-focused detection intelligence for Metamorfo/Casbaneiro activity rather than evidence of a newly reported intrusion or campaign.

Malpedia's autogenerated YARA rule "win_metamorfo_auto" for the Windows malware family win.metamorfo was created using yara-signator. The rule metadata lists Felix Bilstein as author and specifies matching 7 of 10 byte-pattern sequences.
A GitHub IoC entry for Metamorfo/Casbaneiro was updated with the "metamorfo_msi" YARA rule intended to detect most initial MSI payloads. The rule uses multiple distinctive strings and triggers when any two are present.
